Reference Blocks for Hardness

The MPA Hanover is your partner for all questions of hardness. We have been accredited since 1981 for the calibration of reference blocks.

Reference blocks for hardness are required for the indirect verification and calibration of hardness testing machines and in the transmission of hardness scales. For each hardness scale – Brinell, Rockwell, Vickers, Knoop, Leeb – specific reference blocks are required.

There is an individual DKD calibration certificate for each reference block, which is valid for 5 years.

The plates produced by the Kennametall AMSG GmbH's proprietary hot isostatic pressing process are characterized by a unique homogeneous structure and uniform hardness.

Special requirements for the test area make it necessary to have a conscientious preservation and storage. For this, we offer special storage boxes.

Indenter for Hardness
Indenters for hardness with their high precision requirements are subject to continuous wear during the hardness test. They therefore have the same testing and calibration cycles as the hardness testing machinery in which they are used. Deviations in the indenter geometry have different effects which interact in the precision of hardness. The calibration of an indenter gives information as to whether it can be continue to be used or needs to replace.
